Is this course suitable for beginners?

No, this course requires familiarity with chess basics. Students should know piece movements, basic tactics like pins and forks, and have some playing experience (minimum 6 months recommended).

What skill level is this course designed for?

This course is ideal for players rated 1200-1600 ELO looking to reach 1800+. We focus on advanced tactics, positional understanding, and complex openings that bridge the gap between casual and competitive play.

What will I learn in this course?

Advanced tactical patterns (decoys, deflection, clearance), positional play and strategic concepts, complex endgame techniques (rook vs pawn, opposition), popular opening systems and their middlegame plans, game analysis and critical thinking skills.

What tools will I need?

A computer with stable internet, and access to chess platforms like Chess.com or Lichess (free accounts are fine). We also provide access to our game database and analysis software.

Is there a testing class?

Yes, we offer one free assessment lesson to evaluate your child's current level and discuss improvement goals before enrollment.

Will my child participate in tournaments?

Absolutely! We prepare intermediate students for local and state-level competitions. Many of our students at this level have won medals at the National Children Chess Championship and state championships.
